One solution could be to place the tab with the advertiser\'s information on the first position so that the \"save\" and \"cancel\" buttons are visible immediately. This would probably lead to the fact that people fill out their personal information and then try to save without having filled out the ad tab. Then they would get an error message and have to go to the ad tab prior to saving the ad.

Placing the \"save\" button on both tabs would not solve the problem as well because the error message for not having filled out mandatory fields would remain.

The only way to definitely solve this problem would be to completely replace the tabs by links which would lead to spreading the information over several pages or to put it all on one page which is not very user friendly - as more information you must read the handling grows more difficult.

With tabs, the user must click only once to reach the desired information - and can click forth and back randomly without loosing information. If you order the information sequentially in several pages, the user must click on more than one link to get forth or back, the pages must load again, entered information will be lost (or the information must be stored in cookies or sessions which is more complicated and code-increasing) and leads to annoying the user.

We have tried to discuss all advantages and disadvantages and we know that tabs are not the ultima ratio. But most of the users are familiar with tabs - from other software applications. So we can suppose that tabs are the user friendliest way. That is why we decided to use tabs.

I definitely agree with this. There should be a button at the bottom that says click here to finish editing or something like that. The average user might not understand straight off how to save their ad and might get turned away from using the classifieds system.

thanks for your quick reply, the thing is that it is really hard for the normal website surfer to get to the other tab easily. it is just a sentence which says .. to save please go to ..... tab .. which is somehow really hard to get it.

so either to have a hyperlink leads to the refered tab or to have the tab somehow in some other place or what do you think???

thx in advance,

The tabs were created to have a clearer view on the information. If we would join the two tabs together, all information would be in one area.

Please keep in mind that there are people outside in the world using 15\" screens or even smaller i.e. on netbooks. They haven\'t got much space to display all the information and in this case it would lead to wrapping the lines and mess up the whole information design which would be very tiresome to read.

As long as 19\" screens are not standard, we think it is better to organize the information in tabs and sliders (where the slider can already be switched off).
